We made a reasonable amount of progress this week, and with any luck the site will be cleared by next Thursday or Friday.
The well driller fished the pump out from the bottom of the well…
and tested to show that it still worked.
That was good news. Now he’s calculating how much it will cost to replace all the contents of the well house and to repair the rest of the water system.
Saturday we went to Santa Fe to order Andy’s new truck. It’s supposed to take 6-10 weeks to get here… hopefully it will be here in time for us to mount a snow plow before winter. So things are moving along. A lot more needs to be done, and I’ll keep you posted.
Glad that things are going along for you.
great news on all fronts…especially the pump.
cheers, from NZ where Spring certainly was in nice fine Sprung mode today…
Wonderful. I am very happy for you.
I don’t know why but it blows my mind that when Spring has sprung for Cathy, Fall is falling here. Crazy
Gosh! I wish I wasn’t such a negative thinker. Everyone is so happy here, just like Jean sees the best in everything.
And I’m thinking every time I see all your hired workers—this is costing a LOT & it’s only the bare beginning. 🙁 Sorry I’m such a wet blanket.
But like they say, “It’s only money.”
bhb: you are the balance…that is just as important as the other side of the balance otherwise the whole world will die of positivity and what would be the use in that 🙂
try to remember when you were going into Spring I was going into Autumn (Fall) – yet another balance otherwise the world might be top heavy and fall heavily on it’s axis 🙂
hope your day was great and that somewhere within it you got to be on the other side of the balance…
Lovely…to hear of your progress, Jean! Oh my pump working one less thing to do!
And the laughter of me acknowledging BIKEHIKEBABE’S balancing us all…ha…it really is making me giggle lots right now… cathy’s in NZ spring has sprung and we are moving into fall …ahhh…all is well!!!!
Thank you all. 🙂
bikehikebabe,
Yes, that place has always been a great sink of money. No one ever accused Andy of having inexpensive hobbies.
On the plus side he appreciates the fact he has such a good-natured wife. And I seldom have to remind him of that fact. 😀
That said, we’re agreed we won’t spend more than the insurance money to rebuild. It looks as if we can still build a very small house/cabin, so working on the design with the architect is keeping me busy. If that isn’t possible we can fix up something even simpler for Andy to use during the day and as an emergency shelter if he gets stuck in winter.
How big is your cabin? Also, Rummuser, how big is your apartment and how is it laid out? I do love collecting data and food for thought.
Our cabin is 18 ft by 24 ft with a loft (upstairs) that is half that size. There’s a 6 ft porch running across the front. Beautiful view. Is at 10,500 elevation.
It was stained a grey green that just matched the tall spruce trees by it. Later we tried to paint it the same but wasn’t a good match, so we decided to match the ground cover which is plain green. So now it went from a conservative grey green to BRIGHT kelly green. ~Merry Christmas~
It’s so backwoods that nobody sees it, thank God.
good grief charlie brown! and i thought i’d been busy. i love the pictures little monk. it will be interesting to see it develop. no pun intended.
and bhb… at least you can find your cabin in winter. but i would probably need an oxygen mask at that altitude.
cathy in nz… i’m with you on balance. i tend toward pollyanna.
i have to remember i have a DARK side too. well, maybe sorta grey. 🙂
and rummy, you doll you. that’s all. you’re just a sweetie .. and evan’s smile … you guys make me smile with your one-liners while we women write a book.
uh oh… there’s polly again. oh well.
cheers all,
tammy j
oh diane! forgot you! i like that you’re a laugher too. we’ll keep the balance for sure.
