Andy hired Orlando and his helper, Ron, to work on the roads this weekend. They especially worked on clearing out, and replacing if need be, the culverts. The idea is to give water a path under the road so it won’t wash the road out. One culvert big culvert in particular was a lot of work! The flash flood we had last summer clogged it with big rocks as well as dirt:
Hopefully your weekend wasn’t quite as much work. 🙂
Not quite as much work for us this weekend. Ten bags of concrete mix, a movie and dinner out.
My weekend was spent on reinstalling my sound system and enjoying music and reading like I used to do a couple of years ago. You will read all about it soon in my blog.
no, I didn’t need to remove anything quite as large from anywhere…but my weekend was relatively busier than expected.
I ended up with a double booking for Saturday so whilst I really wanted to be with family watching my great nephew playing school soccer, I had to forego that and do my voluntary job which was changed because Mothers Day was this last Sunday…
Sunday I was in at Uni tidying up my introduction for my forthcoming essay…which was like “digging through words” to extract the “right sensible ones”
(since then: said essay is having a bit of a revamp when my lecturer argued that I needed to define a few things. I mentioned “nostalgia” and that is where I’m going with it now…have to formulate something and flick off to him, come Friday)
so more “digging” into indexes in regards to “cultural nostalgia” and making the nostalgia ideals of many commentators all work together…
Mike,
That sounds like a nice balance. What are you using the concrete for? Sounds like a big project to me.
Rummuser,
Yes, I just read your post and enjoyed it.
Cathy,
What a neat expression!
Your essay sounds fascinating.
It’s for erosion prevention in an area along the back of the house.
I’ve done some strange things in my time but clearing out culverts wasn’t one of them. But I guess if it’s either that or get flooded out, then out come the shovels!
Nick,
Building up in mountains is a never-ending adventure. 🙂
interesting! wow.
you all make me feel like a slacker!
that’s a huge rock in that culvert. amazing to think of the water force that “floated” it in there!
i like that phrase too cathy… digging through words.
well…
guess i’ll get back to my slacking!
love to all,
tammy j
tammy,
Yes, that was one powerful flash flood. It was caused by an extra heavy rain and the loss of ground cover because of the fire. Hope it doesn’t happen again this year. Just in case Andy is planniing to put stakes up in front of the opening to keep out the biggest rocks.
